Hillsborough Overview

Being one of the most affluent parts of the Bay Area, the Town of Hillsborough brings real estate in the San Mateo County to a whole new level. Located 17 miles south of San Francisco, Hillsborough represents the pinnacle of some of the most exclusive and extravagant homes, on the peninsula. With easy access to all major roads, Hillsborough remains a secluded area and is notorious for its views of the San Francisco Bay. The hilly town of Hillsborough is a nature-lovers paradise, with three streams – San Mateo Creek, Cherry Canyon Creek, and Sanchez Creek – running through the wooded hills. California redwoods and several rare plant species can be found throughout the upper watershed.

Parks and Recreation

  • Hillsborough offers an abundance of recreation options:

Education

  • Hillsborough has its own highly regarded public elementary and middle school, which is ranked as one of the best school districts in the northern San Mateo County. Though the town doesn’t have its own high school, children of age attend one of the several schools in the San Mateo Union High School District.

Public Safety

  • Hillsborough has its very own Police Department, which takes pride in its ability to protect and serve the Town of Hillsborough while respecting its citizens’ privacy with minimal intrusion. Hillsborough also has fire services that are provided by Central County Fire Department.
